2) Prepare the Screen: Choose a fine mesh screen suitable for screen printing. Coat the screen with a light-sensitive emulsion according to the manufacturer's instructions. Once dry, expose the emulsion to UV light through a film positive of your scale design. This process will create a stencil on the screen where the ink can pass through.
3) Prepare the Ruler: Ensure the rulers are clean and free of any debris or oils that could interfere with the printing process.
4) Set Up the Printing Station: Secure the ruler in place on the printing table using clamps or a specialized fixture. Ensure it is positioned accurately to receive the scale print.
5) Mix Ink: Prepare the ink for screen printing. Choose a color that contrasts well with the color of the ruler for visibility. Stir the ink thoroughly to achieve a consistent texture.
6) Apply Ink to Screen: Place the prepared screen with the stencil over the ruler. Pour a line of ink onto the top of the screen and use a squeegee to spread it evenly across the stencil. The ink will pass through the open areas of the stencil onto the ruler below.
7) Print the Scale: With even pressure, pull the squeegee across the screen, forcing the ink through the stencil and onto the ruler. Ensure consistent pressure and speed for uniform printing.
8) Cure the Ink: Once the scale is printed, the ink needs to be cured to ensure durability and longevity. Depending on the type of ink used, this may involve air drying, heat curing, or UV curing.
9) Inspect and Quality Check: After curing, inspect the printed scale for any defects or inconsistencies. Rectify any issues before proceeding to the next ruler.
10) Repeat the Process: Continue the screen printing process for each ruler, ensuring accuracy and quality throughout.
